inZOI's upcoming patch has officially been delayed to mid-June, according to a new letter from Creative Director Kjun. While this delay may be disappointing for players awaiting the ModKit, the update also promises notable gameplay improvements, especially in how Zois express emotions and behave in daily life.
One of the most anticipated features in the June update is a revamp of the emotional system, which aims to make Zois feel more alive and responsive.
Zois will now show emotions through facial expressions, actions, and interactions, addressing previous feedback that characters felt too static or detached.
Emotional states will influence gameplay more directly. For example, a sad Zoi might cry in the bathroom, while others react differently during meals or social moments.
This change builds on work started in the April update, which introduced emotional stability but also introduced bugs and behavioral glitches. Those issues are now being addressed head-on.
Kjun notes that players wanted Zois to feel more distinct, and this update is a step toward that goal. Emotional nuance will start to influence how Zois converse, react, and behave, making them feel more unique over time.
This could lay the groundwork for a deeper simulation system that rewards storytelling and long-term play, something that fans of life simulation games have been asking for since launch.
While the May update has been pushed back, the team has emphasized that the extra time is being used to ensure quality and respond meaningfully to player feedback. In a time when many games release content prematurely, that approach is worth noting.
One major area of feedback has been around the ModKit and how modding will work in inZOI. The developers have acknowledged community concerns and clarified that CurseForge will be integrated, but not mandatory, a change that came after significant community discussion.
