Hey ZoiFam! We've got a fresh hotfix update live from inZOI today, and while it's not packed with new content, it's full of much-needed polish and improvements. Here's a quick summary of what dropped with this patch! (version 20250414.2252.W)
🛠️ Build Mode Camera Got a Glow-Up!
You can now use a free camera with WASD controls in Build Mode, and the default camera is smoother and more intuitive. Bye wonky camera angles!
💡 Shadows, Shadows Everywhere
Lighting got a big upgrade! Characters now cast more realistic shadows from streetlights and indoor lamps. It’s optional, but super pretty—especially for those who want that Character Studio look in live gameplay. Heads up though: these features might affect performance on lower-end rigs, so tweak settings to your comfort level.

Effect: A new option has been added that allows players to maximize shadow quality. When enabled, shadows will appear sharper and more detailed, enhancing the overall visual realism of the game.

Enabling shadows for multiple lights placed in proximity may result in a noticeable performance drop

Shadow casting options have been added to certain indoor lighting, including ceiling lights and floor lamps. When these lights are turned on, realistic shadows are cast beneath characters and furniture according to the light direction.
This enhancement significantly improves environmental atmosphere and immersion, allowing in-game visuals to better match the high-quality appearance seen in the Character Studio.
🔥 Bug Squashing Galore
Save issues fixed (no more corrupted files from exiting too fast)
Zois now have variable lifespans after reloading (RIP identical twin deaths)
Fire emergencies are now actually dangerous (but stairs and extinguishers work again!)
Tons of ambition goal bugs were sorted out
Rabbit hole careers can finally progress past level 2
Karma is no longer needed to feed cats and pandas (thank goodness)
🎨 UI Tweaks & Canvas Fixes
From better household sorting to camera keybind consistency and Canvas uploads behaving—lots of small changes that make the game smoother to play.
💻 Crash Fixes + CPU Warnings
If you’ve got a 13th or 14th gen Intel chip, there’s now a helpful popup warning you of possible crashes (nice heads-up, devs!).
